The image above is claimed to be of the next gen iPhone expected this September 12th. The photo was attained by well-known iPhone enthusiast Sonny Dickson, who believes that it is the new iPhone 5’s battery. However, the rating printed over the battery is just not exciting enough with only 1440 mAh, it shows slight improvement from iPhone 4S 1430 mAh battery.

The labels visible in the image clearly show it was made back in June and also has higher voltage rating compared to the existing iPhone 4S battery. The new iPhone 5, coming next month, is reportedly loaded with a long list of hardware enhancements that includes LTE and bigger screen, but the lean battery in the image does not fit in the picture. As both LTE and high density pixel display requires a lot of juice, the battery in the image might not be the final product, or it may have been used in the prototype version only.

While this info on the battery label makes a convincing point that it is actually the new iPhone’s battery, still it is hard to prove it. As the 9to5mac suggest that because of the modest jump in potential, this might be a customized battery for modified iPhone 4S, or a useless component from a prototype.

However, if it really is from the iPhone 5, then get ready to read more on how to increase battery backup tutorials or even buy iPhone 5 cases with external battery backup as the new hardwares are obviously going to need lots of charge to survive 24 hours without a socket.
