How To Use Google Tablet Nexus 7 To Receive And Make Free Calls
The Google tablet Nexus 7 released last month is meant for surfing sites, watching YouTube videos, and playing Angry Birds, but what if we can make calls and receive calls right from the Android tablet. Well, the process involves a number of easy to follow steps, and you turn your Android tablet into a phone for free.
Note:
- The steps involves modifying the APK file and rooting of the Nexus 7 tablet. Furthermore, before starting the procedure create a Google Voice.
- This guide assumes that you have rooted your Nexus 7 and have a Google Voice account.
Step 1: Visit CallCentric.com and register for a VoIP account. Then, register on ipkall.com that allows users to receive VoIP without any fee.
Step 2: Now, go to Google Play store and install CSipSimple app and configure it with CallCentric account using the username, which is also your contact number on CallCentric.
Step 3: Put in the new number you got from the ipkall into your Google Voice account via settings.
The above steps will now allow you to receive calls on your tablet Nexus 7.
How to make calls from your Android tablet
Step 1: Install Voice+ app from the Google Play store and configure it with the Google Voice account. Another app you will need is called ExDialer, which you can download it from the Google Play store. ExDialer will help you with dialing numbers you want to call.
Step 2: Now, use the link given at the end of this post to download bongostl’s FrameworkFlasher-MOD. The zip file can be extracted using any compression software.
Step 3: You can now use file explorer like File Expert to go to /system/framework and there you will find framework-res.apk. Copy this apk file and paste it within the place-framework-res-here folder that you extracted in Step 2.
Step 4: Start the RunMe app that you just extracted in Step 2. Recompile the framework-res file using RunMe.
Step 5: Now, you will notice an APK file under files-to-edit folder. Again, go to framework-res.apk > res > values and open the file bools.xml.
Step 6: Search for a line that says line false and alter value to true. Once, finished save the file.
Step 7: Yet again, start RunMe and select option number two to compile a new APK.
Step 8: Now pick option three to sign the newly created APK.
Step 9: Select option four to generate an update.zip file.
Step 10: Move this update.zip file to straight within /sdcard directory.
Step 11: Reboot Nexus 7 into ClockworkMod Recovery
Step 12: Browse through to install zip from sdcard by selecting zip and then update.zip.
Step 13: Reboot your tablet now.
If you have followed everything correctly, then you should now try dialing number and make calls, or you can visit the XDA forum from the link below to solve the issues.
