Many of iPad and Android tablet users have admitted that they failed to realize the real use of a touchscreen based computer except that of watching YouTube and browsing through the internet. Buyers are definitely desperate for an alternative that can provide entertainment along with capability to do some serious business over the tablet. Microsoft by announcing its own Surface tablet has managed to read the message, which companies like Apple and Google have ignored.

Today, Microsoft disclosed in its filing with the SEC that October 26 is the date it will launch the Surface tablet along with the new Windows 8 operating system. So, starting September gadget lovers will be overwhelmed with options coming in the form of iPad mini, Nexus 7, and Microsoft Surface. Apple, obviously, is expected to unveil a cheaper and smaller iPad Mini at a media event this fall and launch the iPad 4 in the first quarter of 2013.

Microsoft has confirmed that Windows 8 operating system for PC will be made available on October 26 this year. Then, theywill start marketing the Surface tablet; a series of Microsoft designed tablet computer. The tablet is designed to take on the king of tablets with all the entertainment features that you find of an iPad but with added advantage of business tools that you will find lacking on the tablet from Apple.

However, if Micorosoft Surface is not priced smartly, then no feature can save the tablet from obvious doom. On the other hand, Surface tablets will compete with OEM partners, which might impact their dedication to the Windows platform. Microsoft itself has warned that If Windows 8 fails, then it will make it more challenging to draw in software developers to the platforms.
