The much anticipated iOS 5 untethered jailbreak has reached a milestone, which according to Pod2G has cleared the testing and coding phase. The successful testing of the jailbreak tool, which can jailbreak both iOS 5 as well as the latest iOS 5.0.1 update is the final phase before releasing it to the masses.
The following is the excerpt of the statement issued by the hacker:
IPhone 3Gs 5.0.1 jb worked.
Remaining to test: iPod 4G & iPhone 4 CDMA running 5.0.1.
Also, I’ve tested iPad 1 and it worked.
Now the time to finalize the jailbreak for old devices, fix some stability issues and package the whole. That will take some days.
In the meanwhile, I’m starting the research for iPad 2 and 4S. I’ll take you informed of my progress.
The above announcement basically means that iOS 5 untethered jailbreak is working successfully, and iPhone 4S and iPad 2 will take time as the hacker will start the research on the new iPhone.
The following is the list of iOS 5 devices that you will be able to jailbreak once the tool is released.
- iPod touch 3G on iOS 5.0.1
- iPhone 4 (GSM) on iOS 5.0.1
- iPad 1 on iOS 5.0.1
- iPhone 3GS on iOS 5.0.1
Now, as the hacker has yet to test few more devices so you can expect surpises this weekend hopefully.
