iOS 5 Siri Proxy Server Code Available: Developer Controlling Thermostat
iOS 5 Siri is yet again in the news as a developer has managed to create his own third party proxy server for the digital assistant. The best part is that the source code is available for free download allowing others to play with and contribute to the ultimate aim.
iOS 5 Siri is meant to work only on iPhone 4S and from the day one hackers are trying to break that rule imposed by Apple. Earlier hackers were successful in cracking the Siri’s protocol, which ultimately helped the hacker known by his twitter account as plamoni to create the Siri proxy server.
Now, that the server code is available for free it will make it easier for other hackers to experiment with and build upon Siri’s functionality. Hacker has even posted a video demonstrating the server in action.
Plamoni, demonstrated his new creation with the help of the video clip, demonstrating controlling a WiFi thermostat with only voice commands. However, the developer has added the note that the hack will work even on non-jailbroken iPhone 4S, but it won’t allow porting Siri over to iPhone 4 or iPod Touch models.
