This was the tutorial I was planning for iPhone 3GS users stuck with recovery screen and unable to use Comex Spirit as Spirit Jailbreak required an activated iPhone 4. Now just follow the following step by step tutorial to Jailbreak your iPhone 3GS (new bootrom) running iPhone 3.1.3.

Requirements:

• iPhone 3GS running iPhone 3.1.3 (even iPhone 3GS upgraded to iOS 4)
• You can have any iTunes version including the lates iTunes 9.2
• You will need a phonebook sim card available on ebay for $3. Even you can find one in your local mobile store. I used a card which i bought from ebay. Here is the link to these SIM cards on ebay. Chinese are taking too much to ship so better look for a seller in UK or if seller is ready to ship using a DHL or any good international courier service.

How to activate iPhone 3GS without AT&T SIM and then Jailbreak using Spirit?

Step 1: Connect your iPhone 3GS to your computer. iTunes will tell you that you need to insert a card to activate. Insert the phonebook SIM card into your iPhone 3GS.

Step 2: iTunes will activate your iPhone automatically.

Note: Now if your are on iOS 4 then you should wait for new Spirit Jailbreak coming within next few days.

Step 3: Go to SpiritJb.com and download Spirit for on your computer.

Step 4: Now simply connect your iPhone 3GS and then run the Spirit application. It will identify your device automatically and the Jailbreak button will get highlighted.

Step 6: Click on the Jailbreak button.

Step 7: Spirit will do its thing automatically and wait for it to show “Jailbreak Complete” message. Now wait for the iPhone to automatically reboot.

Unlock your iPhone 3GS using latest ultrasn0w 0.93.

Step 1: Now as your iPhone is activated you can now configure the Wifi settings to connect it to your router.

Step 2: Start “Cydia” on your iPhone 3GS.

Step 3: Tap on “Manage” tab on the bottom.

Step 4: Now tap on “Sources” as seen in the screenshot above.

Step 5: Tap on “Edit” and then on “Add”. When asked to enter a url type “http://repo666.ultrasn0w.com” and tap on“Add Source”. Now your entered sources will be updated automatically.

Step 7: After your sources are updated you can now search for “ultrasn0w 0.93? in Cydia. Install the ultrasn0w 0.93 and your iPhone will get unlocked automatically. Simply restart your iPhone 3GS and now you can use it with any GSM carrier.
