Microsoft Helping HTC To Make Powerful Android Phones

Microsoft is reported licensing Taiwan based HTC a patented technology to develop more efficient Android phones. Both the companies have announced that they have signed an agreement for HTC’s Android phones but declined to reveal any name or details of the patented Microsoft technology.
The press release from Microsoft:
Microsoft Corp. and HTC Corp. have signed a patent agreement that provides broad coverage under Microsoft’s patent portfolio for HTC’s mobile phones running the Android mobile platform. Under the terms of the agreement, Microsoft will receive royalties from HTC.
Microsoft and HTC have a long history of technical and business relation but unlike the previous the announcement has something to do with Microsoft’s arch rival and developer of Android OS.
There are speculations that Microsoft may be helping HTC with Exchange or Office support on its upcoming android phones.
